In this video I discuss my armored jeep project and how it's going, and I'm finally unveiling my M.A.V.S (modular armored vehicle system) that utilize the vehicles pillars and seatbelts as anchor points. It also utilizes a ballistic apron to cover large areas in the vehicle, that has pockets stitched on to it that allows you to insert various tiles configurations based on the armor rating you want to achieve. full video that covers all aspects of the system will be uploaded in a few weeks. see you all very soon, take care.

Testing Aluminum alloys and stainless steel for armor!
Переглядів 4,4 тис.8 місяців тому
In this project video we are joined by my dear friend Devon all the way from France. (his youtube channel here: ua-cam.com/video/GUC5Rodmrn4/v-deo.htmlsi=hUVRDtcVBE0WppSI ) Today's focus was on aluminum alloys for ballistic armor. we also tested some different configurations with stainless steel sheet metal. Some of these samples handled quite well, and I think you could build off them. I plain...

Join our discord: discord.gg/buQ6m9b5sw In this video we continue our journey to armor a vehicle on a budget, but first we got to establish weight allowances. To do this, we must remove as much as possible to increase our max payload capacity. Join me as I gut all the interior panels and seats from this jeep, get some measurements on future armor sizes, and discuss future modifications. We got ...

You should try making foamCrete it’s a type of concrete that is really light it floats on water that might stop bullets it’s made by using soap suds and concrete together which puts a lot of air bubbles in it so it is lighter and stronger than regular concrete supposedly.

Removing that reinforcing bar at the lower end of the door will compromise side impact safety unless one is up armoring with AR500 panels. "Soft" armor will not protect you from a side impact collision.

I think the HDPE is too thick to be practical for body armor, but might be useful as a composite component layered with other materials that can absorb and disperse the bullet's energy over a larger area. Used tire rubber would be good for spreading out energy, but you'd probably want something like a layer of hard and resilient metal ahead of it to deform the bullet as wide as possible first, and several layers of resin-bonded Dyneema, Kevlar, or other high tensile strength synthetics with the weaves going in different directions somewhere in the mix. Changing forward motion to lateral motion is the trick. Anything that can repurpose what we normally regard as trash would be wonderful. Have you tried anything with PETE plastic, which is cross laminated to hold the pressure of carbonated drinks? I don't think HDPE can even do that.

Really cool, great work as always! Out of curiosity did you test it with any small calibre firearms? Eventually adding the some sloped/pointy/angles to let the bullet (or axe of sort) partially dodge and swing by

But the heat from the bullet lets it slip through enough. Compression slows down more so that the heat doesn't melt the plastic it's piercing

I'm excited for the recent identification of pGEL (Talin proteins arranged to form an aerogel.) Some research papers found that pGEL can absorb multiple, supersonic projectiles without the back face deformation or structural damage that ceramic/steel/HDPE armors suffer. Whats *really* cool is that the pGEL converts kinetic energy from impacts to thermal energy. The Talin pGEL actually converts a lethal kinetic force to heat energy. How neat is that? 😊

  • @josedorsaith5261

You're at the bleeding edge, mate. If you're interested in ballistic-gels look up Talin protein. The University of Kent has found that gels comprised of Talin (a human endogenous protein) can disperse the energy of high-velocity projectiles The University of

Love improvising... Keep up the good work mister. I am in the middle of building a ballistic shield for a friend of mine that wants it for his 'battle' vehicle. I am using a full size IPSC regulation AR 500 gong. It's good so far! Here is what he's getting. Ambidextrous magnetic grip Left and right-side long gun shield rest 3x mini-Wi-Fi cameras and 1x ballistic glass (might not add the glass) Fully padded and rubberized of course!

Why not just use a HDPE kitchen cutting board? Well, actually, just came across this video where somebody sort of did something like that, and it didn't work very well: ua-cam.com/video/ios2jb9wtTs/v-deo.html The lack of annealing may have been a factor, but he also talks about how real HDPE armor usually uses multiple thin sheets rather than solid precast boards. So, I think you may have actually already annealed the HDPE by melting and slowly cooling the recycled milk jug HDPE.

Have you used vacuum bagging to reduce weight ? Super easy to do. Check out Easy Composites Ltd LTD UA-cam channel. Lots of great tutorials on composite layup and molding. I see you have a large sheet of uhmwpe but if you want supplies that are a more common or main stream items try the thin uhmwpe cutting boards available at many restaurant supply stores that are in every city. ( probably most Home Depots as well but HD is always expensive)

I know it would be heavy, but have you considered adhering the plates with polyurea instead of resin? Those polyurea coatings are damn near bulletproof on their own and will definitely hold the plates in place while also preventing spalling.

Bro, i watched ur videos many times, really love what u are doing. I always wandered if spaced armor works as body protection. Thats a good idea for you i guess - try using porcelain plate then 20-30layers of laminated nylon then again porcelain and again 30 more layers of nylon. It works great on vehicles. I would really love to watch if you try this out. Wish you all the best from Israel!
